Our Company

Our shop is a family run team. We have continued on after losing the apple of our eye, father-grandfather, Ernie Gavin. Using everything he taught us from boat building to life’s lessons is how we move forward. Our customers love how they feel buying a boat from a close knit family building with such passion. The customers always some how become family-like after they have come to the shop. We like the shop to feel like a second home, I guess you could say that’s just how we are: warm people.

Stur-Dee Boat Co. has always had an in-house production. We hand lay the fiberglass ourselves in the molds my grandfather made from our original wooden boat. Here we mill all of our wood, mahogany and oak for the seats and gunnels. Finish work such as cetol to painting the boats are also done by us, where we make it just like it would be made for ourselves. Our customer interaction is just the topping on the cake.

My mom and I build as Ernie did right along, with integrity. There are no short cuts made here, Ernie taught us to do things the right way. We treat others as we would want to be treated. With this in mind we build our boats to last for generations.

Everyday we miss Ernie with all of our hearts. To continue on is the best way to remember him. He would be proud to see how we are carrying on all his hard work. We love what we do and love the man who taught us how to do it.
